Queenstown Lord of the Rings Location Tours

Queenstown was a second home for the cast and crew of the Lord of the Rings whilst fiming. The scenery of Queenstown is spectacular and that was important in bringing Peter Jacksons version of Lord of the Rings alive.

Rings Trilogy Trail

Glenorchy Air offers both ground and air tours to the various location sites here in the South Island of New Zealand. These include the locations used to represent Lothlorien, Amon Hen, Nen Hithoel, Amon Lhaw, Path Galen, Ford of Bruinen, The Pillars of the King on the River Anduin, and the site of Gandalf’s ride to Isengard.

Several Trilogy Trail Tours are available, but on request we can also include other location sites.

Road Tour of Queenstown Area

Pillars of the KingOur land tour showcases the beautiful Wakatipu basin. Travel in comfortable four-wheel drive air-conditioned vehicles, which stop for you to walk and see the locations. You will visit the River Anduin – Pillars of the King, Ford of Bruinen and the Battle of Amon Hen, where Aragon fights the Orcs. Allow 3.5 hours. Departure times: 10.30am, 2.30pm.

Trilogy Trail Land Tour (Prices at 1 Oct 2008):

Adult: $140 NZIthlitien

Child: $70 NZ

Included is a landing and bush walk at the location of Lothlorien, the battle of Amon Hen, where Boromir is struck down, Fangorn Forest and Saruman’s Tower at Isengard.
